One of my favorite sites for keeping up on current events is Dialectical Delinquents, which— among other rebellious resources—has a long-running feature called News of Opposition tracking social unrest, wildcat strikes, and individual acts of revolt across the world since 2013. If you’re looking for timestamps on the miner’s strikes in South Africa, riots in France, or Mayday melees in Indonesia, News of Opposition has you covered.
For the project’s longevity and consistency— not to mention a healthy dose of skepticism and dry humor—it stands out as a truly unique and valuable source of counterinformation. Even after the admin announced they would be ramping down activity on the page earlier this year, they’ve continued to weigh in on global events.
The site’s incorrigible admin hasn’t shirked away from keeping tabs on the developing social explosion in Hong Kong, that’s for sure. Link below.
Hong Kong—Its relevance to the rest of us.
its resistance to science and the technology of social control
This essay is a great starting point for anyone who wants to deep dive on the situation in Hong Kong. As a very welcome addition, the comment section of the DD essay is being used to provided updated information, not only on HK’s situation, but updates on repression, surveillance, and ethnic cleansing within Mainland China.
